What is Coaching? Professional coaching is often regarded as the highest level of development available within many organisational contexts. It involves a 1:1 professional relationship with a trained coach, who helps you to identify and resolve issues, clarify your vision and direction, improving both your well-being and experience of daily life and its challenges. Especially useful during times of transition, its many benefits include increased confidence, resilience & engagement. Over a period of weeks and months, your coach will use observation, questioning, listening and feedback to create a conversation rich in insight. You will develop a greater clarity and appreciation of your own circumstances, creating new ways to approach challenges and achieve goals. Each person’s coaching experience is highly individual and unique. Although I am also a trained therapist, coaching is not therapy or counselling, requiring a very active commitment to engage in setting goals and working towards them between sessions in order to maximise the benefit. What can Coaching do for you? Coaching can improve your confidence; give you a sense of purpose; help you gain clarity on your direction in life; aid you in resolving any issues that you may have at work, understanding the way these interact with your personal world; assist you to think differently about how to approach situations, allow you to think clearly and speak openly about your aspirations and help you to achieve your potential. Essentially, it is a rare and valuable opportunity for you to speak to someone completely objective, in a confidential setting; and to invest time and energy in your own development.

Positive psychology coaching, my framework, aims to connect you with the strengths, resources and successes you already have in your life in ways that increase your resilience, self-esteem, agency and overall well-being. Seeking out not what’s wrong with you but rather, what’s already right with you?
Who am I? Emergence aims to inspire those who work with me to think differently about themselves, their opportunities, empowering them to make a positive difference in the world. I believe that the most fulfilled lives are those focused on making a contribution through their specific and unique combination of gifts and passions, valuing the power of self-knowledge and independent thinking. Emergence provides learning experiences that are designed to facilitate you in moving towards a future of purpose and happiness.
I began my professional life as an actor, before setting up my own business taking creativity as an agent of healing into a variety of organisational contexts. I subsequently trained as a social worker and family therapist, working in the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service for a decade. As someone who always has an ear to the wind, listening for the whispers of intuition that guide me forward, I found myself embracing a training as a shamanic healer, mainly because I grew tired of pathologising those who have experienced trauma. Shamanism promotes a deep sense of connection to the interconnected web of life and our individual place within it, as well as promoting positive, healing narratives for those seeking change. I practiced as a shamanic healer for several years before embarking on a doctoral thesis on leadership and embodied spirituality. Ultimately I trained as a teacher with the organisation I did my research on and am now a mentor for apprentices and trainee teachers with The School of Movement Medicine, as well as teaching Movement Medicine. I also work as a trainer and teacher of mental health education, when not offering positive psychology coaching or teaching Movement Medicine.
